Water Leak Audit ("we", "us", "our") is committed to protecting your personal information. We collect, use, and disclose personal information responsibly and only as necessary to deliver our preventative inspection services, match you with licensed local specialists, and communicate with you about your booking.
This policy is designed to meet the requirements of British Columbia's Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA) and applies to all personal information collected through our website, booking forms, phone calls, emails, and in-person visits.
Privacy Officer
Haidar Hammoud has been designated as the Privacy Officer for Water Leak Audit. The Privacy Officer is responsible for our privacy compliance program, responding to access and correction requests, and investigating privacy concerns.

What Personal Information We Collect
We collect only the personal information needed to provide our services and communicate with you. This may include:

• Property address and access instructions for the inspection
• Preferred appointment date and time
• Details about the home, appliances, or building systems you want inspected
• Optional photos or files you upload to help us assess the situation
• Communications, notes, and feedback related to your service
We do not collect payment card information directly on this website. Any payments are processed by trusted third-party payment providers under their own privacy and security terms.
How We Use Your Information
We use your personal information for the following purposes:
• To match you with a licensed, insured, and verified local specialist
• To confirm, schedule, and perform your preventative inspection
• To send booking confirmations, appointment reminders, and arrival notifications
• To deliver your digital inspection report and recommendations
• To respond to your questions, requests, and follow-up needs
• To maintain service quality, safety records, and specialist reviews
• To meet legal, insurance, and regulatory requirements
We will not use your personal information for a new purpose without first notifying you and, where required by PIPA, obtaining your consent.
Disclosure to Third Parties
We only disclose personal information to others when it is necessary to provide the service you requested, or when required by law. Specifically:
• Licensed specialists in our network receive only the information needed to perform your inspection (name, address, contact details, and job notes).
• Service providers such as hosting, email delivery, and customer-support platforms may process information on our behalf under strict confidentiality and security agreements.
• We may disclose information if required by law, court order, or to protect our legal rights.
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties for marketing or any other purpose.
Security Safeguards
We protect your personal information using reasonable physical, technical, and administrative safeguards appropriate to the sensitivity of the information. These include:
• Encrypted data transmission using HTTPS/TLS on our website
• Access controls and limited staff access to personal information
• Secure, reputable hosting and cloud-service providers
• Regular review of our data handling practices
While we take these steps seriously, no method of electronic storage or transmission is completely secure. We notify affected individuals and the Office of the Information & Privacy Commissioner for British Columbia (OIPC) as required by law in the event of a breach involving your personal information.
Data Retention Periods
We keep personal information only as long as it is needed for the purposes described above, or as required by law. Our retention periods are:
• Completed bookings and inspection reports: retained for 2 years from the date of service, then securely deleted unless a longer period is needed for legal or warranty reasons.
• Customer communication records (emails, texts, chat logs): retained for 1 year after the last communication, then securely deleted.
• Photos and files uploaded for quoting or inspection: retained for 1 year from the inspection date, then securely deleted.
• Unbooked leads or inactive inquiries: retained for 1 year, then securely deleted.
• Financial, accounting, and legal compliance records: retained for 7 years, or longer if required by law, regulation, or litigation hold.
When personal information is no longer needed, we securely delete, anonymize, or destroy it in a manner that prevents unauthorized access or recovery.
Access, Correction, and Withdrawal of Consent
Under PIPA, you have the right to access the personal information we hold about you, to request corrections, and to withdraw your consent to certain uses of your information, subject to legal or contractual restrictions.
To request access, correction, or withdrawal of consent, contact our Privacy Officer at privacy@waterleakaudit.ca. We will verify your identity and respond within 30 business days. We may charge a reasonable fee for access requests in accordance with PIPA.
